Welcome to Alberta

Fort MacLeod

Sam and one of the Riders

Field of Canola

Today we traveled from St Mary, MT to Edmonton, AB. We made a stop in Fort MacLeod to visit the Fort MacLeod Museum to see the Musical Ride of Mounties in the tradition of the Northwest Mounted Police. Fort MacLeod was the first headquarters of the Northwest Mounted Police which later became the Royal Canadian Mounted Police. Unfortunately for us, the rain on the 31st flooded the parade grounds and the Ride was cancelled. The road through Calgary to Edmonton was very flat and long. The visibility was exceptional. Alberta’s main crops are Flax and Canola. Canola fields are bright yellow on top with green stalks. Not sure about the Flax. We stopped in Red Deer for dinner before continuing on to Edmonton. Our campground for tonight and tomorrow is the Glowing Embers RV Park. Tomorrow we will visit the West Edmonton Mall.
