Action packed and fun is how we describe yesterday. We got up and went to the Rocky Reach Dam. They had wonderful picnic grounds, beautiful scenery. It is a county facility and again this town of Wenatchee has bucks. The visitor's center had windows where you could watch the salmon swimming up the ladders (neat). Then we took in the fabulous museum they had in the power plant. We learned a great deal about the Columbia River and it's development and use throughout the ages. We stopped back to the visitor's center for perhaps the best lunch of our trip. They even had goats to keep the weeds down in the natural areas of the "park". Then on to Ohme Gardens. This was outstanding. This couple in the '30s decided they wanted to do something special with the earth and they took a barren hillside and transformed it into an oasis that has been chronicled on TV and in magazines over the years. They did this all with their hands and small tools, truly amazing. Not finished yet. We went to the Apple Growers visitors center and saw a film on how the life cycle of apples from planting the trees to buying them at the store. Very informative. We left Wenatchee and headed for Leavenworth (no not the prison town). This is an Alpine village and VERY cool. We were wondering if it was like Helen GA and it is sorta. This place is probably 3 times as big. Plenty of UME PAH and beer steins. Off to rendezvous with Don and Jeanne today. Enjoy the pics.
