We have found a very neat place in Washington called Wenatchee. Beautiful scenery on the Columbia River, lots to do and easy to get around. There are about 29,000 people who live here so they have all the services and the town is wealthy. The historic downtown area has real shops and no empty stores. The county campground we are in is beautiful and cost a great deal of money to build and maintain. Yesterday after arriving we spent a good deal of time at the riverfront park picnicking and walking on the paved path. We then went to a great history and culture museum in town. The highlights were watching how apples were processed as late as the early 60's. There is a machine that actually catapults the apples based on weight into canvas slings. There people would take the apples wrap them and put them in boxes. They also had a Wurlitzer organ that has been in use since 1913. They played it for us and it was amazing all the sounds it could make. Today to the Rocky Reach Dam, the apple visitor's center and then to a Bavarian town of Leavenworth. Getting together for nearly a month with our college BF'er buddies Don and Jeanne tomorrow. Enjoy the pics.
