Larry & Lee Ann's Journey travel blog

What a beautiful day to spend at the lake...

Lare, getting us all hooked up...

Jack & Barb put in before us, so they're already on the...

View to my right as we troll along...

One of my 'wee' little perch, but fun to catch anyway!

Around the bend, the view is still pretty!

Racing with Jack, he's gaining on us! Check out that wake, lol!

As we were preparing to leave, a few other boaters arrived...We had...

One last shot as we head for home, no fish to bbq...

Today we loaded up our Paddleski and headed to Bismark Lake for a little fishing. Bismark is located just a couple of miles inside the Custer State Park entrance, basically across the road from Stockade Lake. A small lake, nestled in a grove of Ponderosa pines, it is a quiet retreat from the much larger Stockade.

Jack & Barb joined us today with their larger Foldcat, another of the neat line of inflatable's from Sea Eagle. As you know, our friends Tim & Crystal Ryerson are distributors for these boats. Jack purchased a 370 Kayak from them a couple of weeks ago, but chose to use the larger, motorized Foldcat for today. I can honestly say that our Paddleski has been one our best purchases since beginning our fulltiming. I can't tell you how many enjoyable hours we have spent fishing, paddling and floating the many rivers and lakes in this beautiful country!

If you're not familiar with the many different types of inflatable's, you can check them out here:

The fish were biting today! Unfortunately, not the much larger trout this lake is known for. But boy, did we ever catch the small perch! Well, Barb & I did anyway. Barb caught 8, I caught 7, Lare caught 1, and I'm not sure of Jack's statistic. But, in all fairness, Larry & Jack keep pretty busy baiting our hooks and releasing our catch and not much time 'feeling their poles'...

In fact, I watched my hubby cast and release all in one swift motion. Yep, as in, released his pole in full swing! I laughed so hard I almost spit a gut. Well, after he yelled at me to grab it (I didn't, I couldn't see it!) and then, miraculously, the end of the pole came bobbing up and my honey swiftly grabbed it...good job baby!

And the best part of this story is, he had a fish on the line!!! NO KIDDING! A perfect ending to a great day...
