Magnetic termite mounds - they look like headstones

A huge Cathedral Termite mound drawfs us

Wangi Falls

We've always loved Litchfield National Park more than Kakadu so decided to visit it again rather than do both. From the amazing Cathedral and Magnetic Termite mounds at the entrance to the park to the sublime waterfalls and cascades in the park it is a very special place. It was rather hot in the park and the flies allowed us to practice our aussie salutes!

We spent two nights at Banyan Tree Resort outside of Batchelor which isn't too far from the park entrance. The word resort is a loose term as we were in a caravan park with onsite cabins. The hot water packed in at our cabin so we had to go and use the campsite shower block facilities.

We had a gecko in the room and a frog by the door that wanted to come in! Before we turned on the air con the cabin registered a stifling 42 degrees celcius.

Both nights we drove to the Rum Jungle Tavern in Batchelor for meals and on the way back stopped to look at the night sky. You don't get stars like this in Sydney!
