Wolf guarding the entrance

The entrance hall (all the walls and ceilings have paintings like these)

Elaborate oak panelling

Now that's the kind of library I want!! (and they have five!)

The state dining room

View of the house from the garden

The gardens are for kids having fun!

And it was a nice, summer's day for the kids too.

Wednesday, Liza and I headed off down to Chatsworth hall to see how Dukes and Duchesses lived. The Duke and Duchess of Derbyshire own this huge estate which they open to the public and give access to quite a bit of the house and all of the gardens.

I can really see myself living this kind of lifestyle. The rooms are filled with renaissance artwork and the ceilings area all painted and it has five libraries! Given my love for books, that does make me envious!

And the gardens are stunning and set up for visitors of all ages. Everything from strolling lawns to terraced water gardens, to forests and glades and even a vege garden. Then there's the cows, sheep and deer all grazing in the background.

I am sure I can cope with that kind of lifestyle... ;)
