Pearl Oriental Tower.

Jin Mao Building.

View from the top.

Looking down.

Down the inside.

The Bund.

And again.

and during the day.

1500km from Hong Kong.

27 hours by train from Hong Kong to Shanghai, a good trip except that at first I thought it was really misty all day and then realised that they were burning the stubble in virtually every field for the whole 1000km+ journey and the mist was actually smoke. I found a very nice hostel near the bund which makes my Hong Kong accommodation look even more like a hovel and then had a quick walk around the location, the bund at night is beautiful and the views across the river the Pudong New area is very similar to HK without the Peak. No doubt I will convince my shaking knees to go to the top of either the Oriental Pearl Tower (468m) or the Jinmao Building (420m, 4th highest and one place above 2IFC in HK). Just looking at the official list that train ride went from the 5th highest building in the world to the 4th highest via the 6th and 7th highest in Guangzhou and Shenzhen.

Wooooooooosh! Just been on the maglev train to the airport at 431kmph/270mph. Then I went to the top of the Jinmao, impressive views except for the clouds but I don't like it when I can feel the buildings moving in the wind.
