Driving the Cassiar Highway

Day: 12 Miles: 303 Total Miles: 2956

Start: Meziadin Junction, BC Stop: Boya Lake, BC

Campground: Boya Lake PP

We continue to define our days as dreary. Low clouds and drizzle greeted our early departure from Meziadin Lake PP. The view along the road was rugged mountains that were still topped with snow. The first 100 miles had forest down to the edge of the road which made it hard to see the mountains along the Cassiar Highway. Later in the day the sun greeted us with views of the mountains as we traveled north. After hours of 50 mph speed limit, we just wanted a nice place to stay. Our tourist magnets had us stop at Jade City along the highway, but there was nothing there for us. At about the 300 mile point we reached Boya Lake and took a drive through the provincial park. The views were so good we decided to stop. Forturnately we got about 3 hours of sunshine, great views, and views across the lake of emerald green water before the clouds and rain rolled back in. No animals seen today.
