Day 5 - El Camino

Maximum (and final) elevation = 696m, Minimum elevation = 380m. A beautiful sunny day - about 18 degrees.

This mornings walk took us on undulating paths through olive groves, vineyards and more green pastures. We stopped for breakfast in the village of Cirauqui and then Lorca 6km on for coffee. We walked with the 4 lads all day - great company and good for getting photos of the 2 of us.

Similar countryside with mountains and cliff faces in the distance for another 2 hours brought us to Estella for lunch. The Cafe sat above Rio (river) Ega so we sat on the terrace with views of the River and some frisky Muscovy Ducks.

Estella has a lift (ascensor) to take you up to the Church of San Pedro de la Rúa. The six of us crammed in. Some selfie taking ensued - sorry I haven't got a copy yet but will include it when I do.

The highlight today was the Fuente de Vino (Wine Fountain) outside Ayegui, a couple of kms after lunch. Very nice Tempranillo! Troy had brought Cycle Queensland wine glasses along specifically for this moment.

Well, after that it was all just a blur.

Just kidding. The last 6km included the most climbing of the day and we were very happy to reach Villamayor de Monjardin and our Albergue for the night.

Today's distance = 28km

Total distance = 127km.
