Cook Islands - closed on Sunday!
Sep 19, 2004
|After another flight from hell we arrived at Tahiti (Papeete) Airport at 4am.
We had to put our watches back another three hours which just messed with our brains even more than before!!
We were greeted at the airport by a band and a girl handing out flowers to us!!??!!
We were in Tahiti for an hour, then we jumped back on the plane and carried on to Rarotonga (Cook Islands). We arrived about 7am Sunday morning.
The guy from the hostel picked us up and took us to where we were staying. It was at this point that we realised that we were staying at "International Backpackers Raratonga", not "Raratonga Backpackers". So sorry if there was any confusion. The two hostels have very similar names!
The Cook Islands are completely closed on Sunday.
This meant that we could not buy food, drink or get any money until 6pm when a random petrol station opened. This also meant we couldn't contact anyone or do anything until then!
However! We did manage to find a bike hire place open, so we've both got a 21 speed mountain bike each!
That'll burn off all that foul american food!
We were both asleep by 8pm as we were so shattered!
