Bus ride (11:am to 2), went alongside the tallest mountains (highest peak 3000 m.) in Oman...rocky, barren but beautiful. Wiki Info Highest Peak
The valley floor absolutely flat. Oman is doing (like most other Arab countries) a lot of road expansion/highway improvement projects. Plus we see evidence of their well being in the fact that most of the structures and homes are quite new or at the very least well maintained. The highway workers are out in force midday! Temps are upwards of 35°C = 100°F! Amazing! One thing here that is very cheap is gasoline, 41¢/liter= $1.55/gal. Our bus rides amount to very little, likewise our food is quite reasonable...it's the hotels that are costly. In Ibri the LP recommended Ibri Guesthouse is closed so we end up at Al-Majd Hotel Apartments
...nice place, friendly folks but they know nothing about bus services/schedules. So we'll do our best tomorrow trying to end up in Sohar to catch bus to border and on to Dubai on the 7 th. Out to eat and encounter the hottest wind I've ever experienced and it's past 8pm - should be cooler in evening but doesn't seem to be happening.
