Walking back toward home, no storm in sight! We are still on...

We've had the strangest weather the past few days. It was quite warm (in the mid 80's) a couple of days ago, but both yesterday and today we have sunny skies one minute, and a thundershower the next. Fortunately, they don't last long, so they don't do much damage to the dirt roads around here. We keep planning to wash our truck, but heck, why waste our time! Although we really do need to polish up the inside a bit. It never got out of the 60's today, and is going into the low 40's at night, so I put the heavier winter blanket back on again last night. I keep thinking "okay, I can pack it away now", but glad I haven't. It will eventually go into a Space Cube Bag down below but I don't want to have to keep getting it out of storage, so I am procrastinating. The weatherman is predicting mid-80's by the end of the week, so we'll see.

Larry is looking forward to that. He really wants to go fishing. But as you know we are both 'fair weather' fishermen and we don't want to get caught on the lake in a lightning/thunderstorm if we can avoid it. So, we'll just have to wait and see. We haven't tested our new seat for the Sea Eagle just yet but we'll let you know what we think. Sure looks like they will do the trick. And, we will be able to paddle much easier. Not that we paddle much, but at least we'll have that option available with a lot less work.

We went to the VFW two nights in a row for dinner. Thursday they held a special Veteran's Appreciation Day event and there was live entertainment as well as a steak dinner available. And then Friday they offered a soup/pie event. Three different soups as well as chili and a big variety of pies, including homemade apple and sugar free choices. $5.00 per person, can't beat that. I love the homemade chicken noodle recipe that they use but others prefer the potato cheese. Both Larry & Dick normally choose the chili and the cherry pie. It also includes bread and a drink. We always enjoy meeting and visiting with the locals while there as well. Interesting folks to talk with.

Arriving home, Larry, Onyx and I headed out for a much needed walk. I ate too much! It seems like a walk after a meal really helps with my digestion. And if not, it's great exercise! We just went to the back of the property but encountered 3 deer in the meadow off to our left. Too far for good pics and they don't come any closer if they can help it. Besides, Onyx makes them a bit nervous. They are always the highlight of her day though! She thinks they are all her buddies and wants to run and greet them. Of course, they are not nearly as fascinated with her! About an hour after our walk we were hit with another 30 minute storm. As you can see in the picture I'm posting, there was no apparent evidence it was even on it's way! Ah well, we choose to enjoy whatever comes our way. It's sounds neat beating on our rubber roof and there certainly isn't any smog in the air! I feel for the few remaining bikers though. They look pretty miserable dragging in here after being caught in one of them. Today is officially the end of the rally, so we'll soon have the Hills back. Kinda looking forward to that. In fact, we are going to Deadwood tomorrow, so we'll see you when we return! Take care....
