|We have travelled to Kearney NB on the recommendation of our landlord Glenn Fosdick. You may remember we stayed with Glenn and Arlene for 3 days. We had a wonderful ride for the near 200 miles from Omaha. We are still being true to our desire to not use interstates unless necessary. Great trip through farm land ( the corn is 8 feet tall!) and neat little towns. On one 70 mile stretch we saw 8 trains transporting goods both east and west. We checked into the campground at Ft. Kearney Recreation area and what a nice place it is. There are 7 stocked ponds throughout the campground and the sites are wide, wooded and clean. So we decided to stay a few days, took the camper off and put up the awnings. Haven't done that in a month. Very nice bike riding trails too. A great deal to see in this city of 30,000 where the Oregon trail went through. The federal government built a fort here as a means of keeping he peace with the Indians and a safe haven for those moving west. The fort was a stopping point for 30,000 people a year during those days. More on what we see tomorrow. Enjoy the pics.
