A planned travel day turned into a very interesting roadside stop. I was driving and Shirley was looking and we came into a small town in MN called Walnut Grove. Sound familiar? Yes Little House on the Prairie was in Walnut Grove! Laura Ingles Wilder wrote about her adventures crossing the prairie and settling in the mid west. Remember there was a Laura Ingles on the show? Nice museum and memories. Then we headed for our overnight stop in Pipestone MN. We are at the far southwest corner of Minnesota bordering South Dakota, Iowa and Nebraska. This is sacred ground for the Native Americans and there is a National Park Historic sight here. The peace pipe is made of pipestone and the stone is only found in a few places and this is one! We saw a nice movie about the history of this location and plan to take a walking tour tomorrow. Enjoy the pics.
