September 12, Temps Low 49, High 75 Boldt Castle

Started out light rain then cloudy and by the time we got to the castle it was mid 70’s and the sun was out. Did have a lot of wind all day. We joked was this going to be like Labrador when the ferry did not show up because of high wind.

Boldt Castel was built as a token of George C. Boldt’s love of his wife Louise. The builders were told to spar no expense in the construction. In 1904 Louise died (ran away with the boat mechanic-you choose the story you like), George stopped all construction, so the castle sat unfinished until the Thousand Island Bridge Authority bought the castle and stated restoring it. Today the first and second floors have been restored, the 3rd floor is partially restored. There are crates on the 3rd and 4th floors that have never been unbacked, they are filled with the original tile and carved wood work that George and Louise picked out for their Castle. Restoration continues as money becomes available.

September 13 Temps were a little warmer low was in the 50’s and the high was near 80

Slow day went to a 1 man farmers market and bought some nice vegetables. We lunched at Gal’s, we were told she had the best mac -n-cheese. New Yorkers do not have the same idea of what mac-n-cheese should taste like, it is not the good stuff our mothers made for us done south. After lunch we explored the state parks, Did not find the hiking trails we were looking for, so we came home and relaxed for the rest of the day.

Sept 14 was laundry day and just relax around the camper

Sept 15 temps are still cool, the sun is out today so it looks like it will be a nice day.

Started out the day in Clayton just relaxed and walked around the city’s one main street three blocks lone. Found a few interesting shops. Then headed out for Coyote Vineyards. Wine was ok but still not as good as we had in Georgia.
