A postcard of the Confederation Bridge

We left St Martins about 9:00 this morning in a drizzle and high wind conditions. We crossed the Confederation Bridge between New Brunswick and Prince Edward Island about noon. This bridge or via ferry are the only ways onto Prince Edward Island for auto or motorhome. This bridge is an engineering marvel. It is 13 km (approximately 8 miles) long. It is the longest marine span in the world over which water ices. Lois drove the motorhome over the bridge as I attempted to take pictures. Pictures from a motorhome absolutely do not show the magnificence of this structure. It took us almost 12 minutes to cross the bridge. The weather was somewhat cloudy but no fog or rain at the time so visibility was very good. Once on PEI, we drove across the island to Cavendish, which is on the ocean on the north side. PEI is approximately 160 miles long end to end. After setting up the motorhome, we ate lunch and then drove to North Rustico (a neat little fishing village and harbor about 10 miles from our campground). We visited a lighthouse there and a couple gift shops. Then we out on the beach close to the village and came upon a wedding taking place on the beach. This is a very restful place and we may stay for 3-4 days.
