Sunset Geraldton

18th July. After a wet and miserable day and night we set off this morning heading for Geraldton, it drizzled most of the way. We stopped for morning tea at Binnu a small farming town north of Northampton, all the crops up this way seem to be coming along nicely and the recent rain is no doubt most welcome.

When we think of how dry and hot it was when we travelled this way last year (exactly eleven months today) everywhere is so different. Today there are flowers everywhere and the grasses are thick and lush, even the trees have a healthy look.

The Galena River (Galena Bridge, where we had stayed last year) is in full flow, last year it had very little water and rocks in the middle were clearly visible, certainly not now.

We arrived at Sunset Beach Caravan Park Geraldton at 11am, we have booked for two nights, its a good park with good amenities.

19th July. After a relaxing afternoon yesterday which was cold and windy we woke to a lovely sunny day.

We received news this morning that my cousin Les Minett is very ill in Hospital, we had thought of leaving Geraldton early, but have decided to wait for further information, hopefully Les will improve.

We drove into Geraldton which we have visited a few times and had morning tea at the Dome Cafe on the waterfront. The foreshore precinct has been developed into a pleasant grassed and sheltered area.

After filling up with fuel and buying a couple of things at the shops we returned to the caravan park.
