The ever dangerous cape buffalo

Giraffe detail

Vervet monkeys at play at Chobe Safari Lodge

The sun sets on Chobe NP and on another safari

-up by 0510, getting some things done before 0600 departure

-taking more landscape shots at Chobe; the game drive is pretty quiet; it is cool and there is some wind; a few baboons; nice giraffe foraging; did Penny really say 'leper colony' re Japanese group with face masks?

-you know it's a slow game drive when you stop for a solitary warthog

-it's a ride 'em cowboy ride in the back seat; loo break and then a pair of kori bustards, the largest bird that can fly

-the ellie breeding herd was heading double time to the river's edge

-heading back we came across a lioness, a worthwhile reason to delay brekkie; a slender mongoose completed the sightings

-the two meals a day is easier than you might think: large brekkie after 0900 tiding one over until dinner

-brekkie consisted again of one first plate and then an omelette; tried impala sausage, also rather savoury; has Explore mucked up the transfers?

-room time and then up to reception for wifi; uploading pix was very slow but done by 1230 and back to the room to download the morning's rather uneventful pix

-a bit of a swim to while away a bit of time; staying in Kasane means a pool, wifi and the ability to move around whereas staying in the park means none of the above but a real safari experience

-vervet monkeys were cavorting about near my patio area before the final game drive...various wish lists re what to see

-four giraffes heading down toward the river, complete with oxpeckers...a crocodile with its mouth open...scared off a lilac breasted roller by dropping my binoculars...three warthogs wallowing in the mud and scratching their itchy hides...elephants, including babies, scratching at the ground to loosen up grass..a lone, rather distant, hyena...three lions but all hidden by bushes or a log...love the salmon-coloured interior of the ears of kudus...made the last major sighting of a rare side-striped jackal [well, I did the jackal bit and Olly particularized it]...vast herd of impala...a lilac breasted roller in flight was nice...sunset shots finished off the Chobe experience and then a race out of the park [1830 closing] a few minutes late

-Peta wanted to try the bar at the Chobe Bush Lodge so we scurried there for various beverages...we decided to have a third straight a la carte dinner there; Jomo was there but 'Cagey' was our waitress...had the snails and a half chicken; while rather small, could not finish it, still having the ice cream

-Peta trying to message the micro lite operation over dinner but uncertain success

-back to the Chobe Safari Lodge for the last time, having drinks at the bar; managed to miss the others but the Boring Birders saw us in due course, a round of drinks with them

-too tired to do anything so bed by 2330, w/o the mosquito netting
