Girls Only to India: Shimla & Rajasthan Royals travel blog

First stop -The Palace of the Winds, just to see the outside? There are many elephants in the town with wonderfully decorated faces. We stop one for a photo & I pay the elephant! They are on their way to our next stop, the Amber Fort which is massive, high on a ridge above the town. We go by jeep sadly, not by elephant as they are thought to be unpredictable! We are beset by hawkers but it is worth it to tour this magnificent edifice. More celeb pics!!

There is a beautiful palace in the middle of a lake beneath the fort. Shame about the rubbish floating in it.

Afternoon - Jantar Mantar - the Observatory. Jai the Maharajah, was a scientist, astronomer & astrologer. He built many scientific instruments of stone inc the world's largest sundial. Amazing & extremely accurate for the 17th century.

We end up in a carpet factory and later a gem store. Disappointing as we were hoping for a wAlk through the bazaar.

However, we had an amazing evening walking through local streets experiencing Diwali. Great party atmosphere, lights, fireworks, mad traffic, sweet stalls and everyone very friendly, shaking our hands & wishing all a Happy Diwali. Many more celeb photo calls.

Time for bed & pastures new tomorrow x
