The Alaska Highway (northern BC)

Another time change. Now in the Pacific Time Zone. The drive up to Fort Nelson from Dawson Creek was uneventful, well for the most part (more later). Started out with rain/drizzle, turned to sunshine by late morning.

The majority of the traffic was large trucks... gravel (for new inland road building); sand & water (for the oil wells) and bulk fuel for the machinery. There is a lot of oil and some gas extraction in northern Alberta and BC.

We had an intermittent problem with the 12 volt on the motorhome. It kept cutting out. We would lose the dash radio, camera monitor, brake controller for the tow, 12v outlets for the GPS and dashcam, the power seats, the outside step and the parking brake indicator would light up and start dinging. When we got to our next stop, I did some investigating and found a loose positive battery cable connection. Tightened and will find out tomorrow if it's cured.

The price of gas in Fort Nelson... $1.52.9 per litre. That was a $400.00 fill-up. Ouch!
