|So we left Caye Caulker and headed back to Belize City, we are glad that we went snorkelling yesterday, as we had quite a wind storm last night, and cloudy skies in the morning. We got seats at the back of the boat, and it didn't take long and Cory was soaked. He moved. This is not a great place for Anne to visit as transport to the nice spots are by water taxi or colectivo laucha. The water in spots was quite - exciting. Thank goodness the boat was only a 45 minute ride. Once in Belize we jumped on a bus and headed down to Dangriga, where we had a quick stop and had a bite to eat. Then we headed off to Placencia, with the intent of carrying on to Punta Gorda. The road to Placencia, is being upgraded, so we had a very bumpy, dusty ride. Once again Cory, stepped into inspector mode, and did catch a photo, (although difficult to get a good shot with all the bumpiness) of daylight, that he could see under the pedals of the bus. One of the fellows on the bus recommended a place, that we found was a bit too expensive, but more than that an attitude. If she rented for the price in the Lonely Planet book, she wouldn't eat. I hope that she is able to eat, because she didn't get any rent from us. We ended up getting a room with a private bath at the Traveller's Inn. It was a plain and simple room, with a place to lie our heads. It was a fairly quiet town, with some lovely beaches. It was quite an area of contrast, as mixed in with the thatched huts of the poor residents, were huge, some 7,000 plus square foot homes. There is also a huge condo area going in. In the morning we caught the water taxi from Placencia to Independence, where we caught the bus to Punta Gorda.
