Along the river

Thursday, we had a very long drive up the North island to Rororua, an area of geothermal activity with geysers, hot springs, lots of steam - and a constant smell of sulfur. The Silver Fern Motor Inn was great, complete with a deep spa-hot tub in the bathroom. We explored a bit on Friday despite the rain, and toured Te Puia, a Maori cultural center with great walking trails to the geysers and mud pools. We got right into the hot tub as soon as we came back.
