Up early for the mangrove swamp tour but the road had washed out so the bus was delayed for some time. Finally got to the site and we were taken by motor launch through the mangrove swamp. High roots allow for the salt to be leached out. See lots of wild life – pygmy ant eater, snakes, crocodile, lizards… A spider monkey jumped on the boat and threated all of us, then ran back with his troupe as another troupe was heard in the distance.

Since we had started late the tide was quite strong so we headed back early. A skiff stopped alongside to try to see us some freshly caught fish. One of the guides made Alice a grasshopper from reeds. After we got back to the start point we boarded a bus, back to the hotel to check out, and off to San Jose.

Arrived in the city and said goodbye to Estaban. Took a walk downtown with Jana and Veronica – interesting Public Square with many cow sculptures. It started raining. Veronica scraped her leg so we took a taxi back to the hotel. We ate at Le Mondo and then Jana and Veronica had to pack to catch their flight. Alice and I went back to our room and I did a bit of school work before bed. Same hotel we started in!
