|Hope you all had a nice Thanksgiving, we certainly did. It was nice to have Mom with us this year here in Henderson, NV rather than the frigid cold of her home town, Ely. We made a quick trip up to pick her up on Monday & did a few things for her, like defrosting her large freezer, before heading back to town. I also got to have a nice lunch with sister Lori before whisking Mom away. Lori is going to stay at Mom's this year & care for her cat Mandy, her plants and her home in general while Mom visits sister Elaine in Riverside for a bit. All of our California family are looking forward to that :)
We got about 4-6 inches of snow the last night we were there, requiring Larry to clear a path to the curbing which made it a bit more difficult to load up the truck, but we managed. Onyx thoroughly enjoyed 'helping' her daddy by plopping herself belly down in both the snow & on the cold concrete. Brrrr, she is one hot blooded little girl! She is feeling much better by the way. Her heart meds, Lasix & thyroid meds have her almost back to normal :)
Usually Mom & I prepare our Thanksgiving dinner & then sister Lori & her hubby Marion join us. But this year we went to son Larry's & joined his family & some of his wife Tawnia's family. Tawnia, Larry, Tessa & Sharon prepared a wonderful Thanksgiving turkey with all the trimmings & I didn't have to cook a thing except a couple of pies! Yayyyyy, I loved it :) The only downside to not cooking our own meal is there are no leftovers. Hmmmm, now what? Guess we'll just have to wait for Christmas dinner, lol.
Today Mom & I are going to do a bit of shopping & then we're going to head over to my Uncle Austin's to visit for a couple of hours. Austin is Mom's youngest living brother & she hasn't seen him in several years. Looking forward to that! Then later in the day niece Bobbi & her daughter Evelyn will arrive from California. They are driving in for a short visit & to pick up Mom. They plan to go down on the strip & 'people watch' for a bit. I love to 'people watch' too, but you couldn't pay me to go down on the Las Vegas strip this weekend! This town is packed, like each & every holiday weekend. They are going to head back on Saturday which should help them beat some of the Sunday traffic.
Well, that's it for now. Larry & I hope you are enjoying your holiday weekend & if you are traveling, please drive defensively & safely. Blessings to all of you & we'll talk again soon!
