Alison and Aaron - Happy 25th Aaron!

The first week and a half back in Vernon the weather was warm, calm and sunny. Larry re-immersed himself in the Treasurer job at Swan Lake RV Resort. Over the winter he's created a new website, set up new payment software for maintenance fees, dealt with problems, readied everything for new managers. He was able to do it all on line. When he got back he organized the clean-up of the files and office as well as setting up a small convenience store in the registration office. Beverly and Mike were already working hard when we got back (they used to be beside us at Pacific Border and we have remained friends).

Then the weather took a turn. While it was mostly not too bad during the day, it remained very cold at night, often with frost in the mornings. There was no more sitting outside. The wind was chilly. The birds were all returning though. There were quail everywhere, eagles and osprey nesting nearby.

On April 2 several ladies began a walking club. There are now 7 in the group and they walk up to 5 miles each morning. Tuesday morning coffee continues as well as Friday happy hours. The Social Committee put on a breakfast on April 13 and a dinner on April 27. There was also a potluck dinner before the end of March.

On April 6 we drove into Kelowna to watch Missy skate in Roller Derby. She used to work for Larry at one of his stores. This was the first time we'd been to Roller Derby and we had no idea what was going on. It was fun anyway! We stayed overnight at the Fairfield Inn & Suites and they provided a nice breakfast in the morning. We then did some shopping at Costco and headed back.

On the 24th Brad came up from Nanaimo to look at the sewer situation in the park with a view to putting in some kind of sewage treatment facility. In the afternoon we stopped at Grey Monk Estate Winery for lunch and a short tour.

On the 27th we went to Penticton for the RV show. The show itself was a big disappointment. It was mostly for those buying a new rig, not so much about accessories. We had decided to stay in Summerland for the night and stayed right on the lake at Summerland Resort. The restaurant there turned out to be very expensive so we went into Summerland looking for something else - we saw the sign in front of the Legion and went back for a great steak dinner (Caesar salad, garlic toast, baked potato, BBQ steak) for just $10. We met some nice local people at our table. The next morning we were up early again and stopped at Tim Horton's for breakfast then on to the Coast. We hadn't seen the boys since Christmas and really looked forward to it.

The drive was nice over the Connector and the Coquihalla. It only took four hours from Summerland to South Surrey. We took Aaron out for dinner for his birthday with Alison. We went to Pelagos in Crescent Beach which was very good. The weather was still cold and threatening rain by that time. We spent the night at their place on an air mattress - now we know why we have a motorhome - that kind of camping is not for us anymore! We went to the Roadhouse for breakfast the next day then on to Sechelt, after a few appointments. We got the 3:10 ferry. The mountains were beautiful, still covered with snow. So nice to see the ocean.

Maureen went with Kelly to watch his ball game on the 29th. It was very cold - gloves, blankets, hood up. We will be here about a week.
