|So I'm picking up a bit of yesterday's conversation concerning the latter part of our Christmas day in this post. You already know that we spent the morning at son Larry's, enjoyed a nice breakfast & helped put a few 'things' together.
We'd planned to help Bonnie with dinner but the turkey was already in the oven by the time we returned home. Larry & I did peel & cut up 10 lbs of potatoes. Does that count as help? I also made a cranberry relish dish & made my 'famous' dinner rolls.
Then we headed home to change clothes & open a couple of gifts. We had an agreement this year to not buy each other gifts. We have needed a new TV for awhile & our big ole' clunky one finally bit the dust so the timing was good. We also plan to replace our mattress & hope to get it next week. I am so ready!
My honey didn't get much but I did manage to fill a gift bag with a few items from Harbor Freight. Now that is a fun store, lol! I had a blast in there with several guys when I asked them if they knew where the dikes were :) I guess that is a really old school term? A large magnifying glass, wire cutters, etc...Mom gave Larry a digital, talking tire pressure gauge & he sure loves it. So much easier to use! New jeans, a great North Face shirt, an awesome throw & an I-tunes gift card made him a very happy guy!
I got a new robe, two outfits, two tops, a universal smart silicone lid (which I love!), a West Bend slow cooker, a throw, an I-Tunes gift card & $$$ to buy a new Napoli bra. Yep, you read that right. A new bra. I understand it is the best & most comfortable ever girls. I'll let you know later :)
This year the entire Fiscus family was in the house for the entire day, a first in many years. Ken flew in from Reno & of course Cindy & Bill and granddaughter Ashley & her family were all there. Larry, Tawnia & the kids & Trisha too. Everyone pitched in with the cooking, serving & cleaning. Wow, that made for a nice, easy day! And a blessed one for sure.
Well, if you are family I'm sure you've enjoyed reading about our day. If you are one of our wonderful readers, you are probably bored to death by now! But, we hope you too were able to spend a wonderful day with your family & friends. If you are on the road this weekend, please drive safely & thank you so much for taking a few minutes of your precious time to check in on us. We really appreciate it!
