|I thought I posted on our trip to Ely earlier & just realized that I only put up a few pics on Facebook. Sorry about that Mom! We had such a nice weekend visiting with you, it seemed like Christmas! Oh wait, it was :)
We headed out Saturday morning to pretty skies & light traffic which is always nice. We'd been watching the weather closely, hoping that a predicted snow storm would hold off. And it did! Yayyyyyy. We arrived at Mom's about 4:30 PM, visited a bit & then headed over to the Prospector for a light dinner. After returning home we played a couple of games of golf, a card game that friends Gary & Lynne taught us a few years ago. Nothing to do with golf, I believe they call it that because there are 9 'holes' or hands played. Anyway, it's fun & Mom really enjoys playing it. I think because she usually beats us most games, lol!
Sunday we did a few chores for Mom and took her grocery shopping. It was cold, but still no rain or snow. We returned home & exchanged gifts. Mom seemed quite pleased with all of hers & all of her clothing fit which was wonderful. Exchanging items after Christmas is never fun, big crowds & most everything is picked over, don't you agree? We enjoyed a nice quiet dinner at home & afterward sister Lori & hubby Marion joined us for coffee & pie. Lori gifted Larry & I with new slippers, knitted by her own hands. She used the cutest pattern on mine, I love them!
After they left Mom & I watched three Christmas movies back-to-back. We were up until 2am! Larry gave up wayyyy earlier & hit the sack.
Monday morning Mom opened her gifts from California family. Packages had been arriving all week and so we decided it would be fun for her to open them a bit early so we could watch & take a few pics too. She will certainly be all decked out & the best smelling lady in town in the coming days!!! Afterward we went back to the Prospector & enjoyed a very tasty breakfast before getting on the road. I guess you can tell that the Prospector has the best food in this small community, lol :) They did have 6 Christmas trees up, so we took advantage of two of them for a couple of photos with Mom. We really enjoyed our weekend & are feeling a bit more comfortable that Mom has decided to stay home this winter. Hopefully it will be a fairly mild one although the state could sure use the snow runoff next spring.
Mom will be celebrating Christmas day/dinner with sister Lori & Marion and then Sunday sister Joyce & niece KenAnn will be arriving. KenAnn's son Erik is flying into Vegas on Saturday so Mom will also have her great grandson there. She's very excited about that. Not many great grandchildren get an opportunity to hang out with their great grandmother! Sadly, I never got to know mine. Well, I guess that's it for now. Aunt Toots, I hope you are reading this! It will catch you up a bit & I know you always enjoy the pictures:)
