Inspiration Trail

Map of our travels in Newfoundland

Wednesday, June 19

Copied this from Parks Canada website.  This is where our KOA is. Very pretty.

"Soaring fjords and moody mountains tower above a diverse panorama of beaches and bogs, forests and barren cliffs. Shaped by colliding continents and grinding glaciers, Gros Morne’s ancient landscape is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Wander coastal pathways and beachcomb among sea stacks. Cruise the dramatic, sheer-walled gorge of Western Brook Pond. Spot moose and caribou. Hike to alpine highlands where Arctic hare and ptarmigan thrive on tundra, and explore the colourful culture of nearby seaside communities."  The name means large mountain standing alone.

We awoke to a beautiful sunny day, 43 degrees outside, and headed south towards the ferry.  The views seemed even more beautiful than on the way North. I don't know if it's the direction we're traveling or the bright sun, or what.  Again we went up and down hills, seeing gorgeous mountains and water. Until we got close to Deer Lake and Corner Brook, and then beyond, there were very few cars ahead of or behind us.  Some were coming toward us, but still traffic was light. We arrived at the Grand Codroy RV/TentCamping Park a little before noon. It's a beautiful day, with the temp in the mid to high 60s.  It feels about 70, and we finally got to wear shorts! We went for a walk along the Inspiration Trail, where the had cute little inspirational signs. It was a nice walk in the woods. The laundry is done again, and I cleaned out the camper s bit.  We talked for awhile with our neighbors, Ian and Kim, who are from near Edmonton, Alberta. They have a nice pickup camper with a slide out. They are real nice. They'll be on the boat tomorrow as well. They spent 3 weeks in Newfoundland and Labrador. We even had a campfire today, in the little grill on the campsite. There's a fire pit not far from our site, but the grill is the only place on our site...
