Up and out by 7 a.m. to catch our 10:30 plane to the Andamans. Very nice that Transit Inn provides the taxi to and from the airport as a part of the service package...they even got up early enough to give us breakfast at 6:30!
At the airport we could not find a posting of our flight on the reader board just a listing of the gate. So we sat playing cards and Bon reading at our gate. After almost an hour a fellow (the one who had checked us in) rushed up to us and said "The plane is loaded, you must come now!" How many airlines would bother? Vistara - great experience flying! Even served a warm meal on the 2+ hour flight! WOW!
Daphne had booked us into Aashiaanaa Rest Home (all that was available) for one night. Since they had arrived earlier, she and Joey had been searching for other accommodations - we arrived at 10:30 a.m. Most of the rest of the day was spent dealing with logistics...we discovered that the govt. ferry tickets for each day are first come first served the morning before at 8:30a.m.. We found a great O.N. - Hotel Lalaji Bay View (Nilman - very nice manager) which allowed us to stay one more night.
I went to the dock and waited in line beginning at 6 a.m. to get tickets to Havalock! After being in line and waiting for 4 1/2 hours (computers stopped for an hour as well), we were finally able to get our 3 tickets since we were in the senior line and also women! At first the sales guy said no tickets were available until afternoon ferry which would mean we'd arrive after 4:30 and make finding accommodations difficult. Bon was a bit irate and yelled at the guy who somehow 'found' tickets for the 6:30 a.m. ferry!
