|On our 3rd & final day in Dawson Creek, we decided to do a little bird watching, followed by a visit to a well known watering hole in the neighboring town of Rolla. We started out at McQueen's Slough for the bird watching, there were board walks and islands for viewing. We saw many species of birds (mostly ducks) that we had never seen or heard of before (wished friend Barb had been with us to help identify some of them). After a couple hours at the slough, we went to the Rolla pub for a beer & conversation with the locals. The only local was Patty, the owner/bartender, but that was enough as she was quite a unique individual, her family has owned the bar for over 50 years and she had many stories to tell.
