Here’s some of what the Lonely Planet – Italy’s chapter on Lombardy and the Lakes has to say about the Eastern Shore of Lake Como:
“Lago di Como’s eastern shore is the least vis¬ited, but it shelters some really lovely villages. If driving, skip the motorway, and stick to the lakeside SS36 from Colico south to Lecco.”
KAPOORS ON THE ROAD
For water sports lovers it is possible to spend entire days sailing or kayaking, windsurfing and motor boating, water skiing and canoeing, wakeboarding and kite surfing on Lake Como.
The Northern part of the lake is particularly suited for sailing disciplines because of the constant wind that blows there. In Dervio there are three sailing centres, a windsurfing school and an area for kitesurfing which organizes international competitions.
