Engagement honeymoon travel blog

Happy birthday Clint! We started our day off early with a hike to the top of mount Eden. We were just able to catch the last bit of the sunrise, which was beautiful. The views from the top were great as well. You could see 360 degrees, right to downtown Auckland and out to the ocean. The mountain is an old volcano that had erupted and at the top you can see the crater where the top blew off. After we got down, we made our way to the Auckland Jetty (wharf) where we hopped on the ferry and took the 40 ride over to Waiheke Island. This island is known for their wineries and the amazing costal views. We went to the Cable Bay winery and did some tasting there, then made our way up the hills to Mudbrick winery where we had birthday lunch in their restaurant that over looks the ocean. After lunch we toured the mudbrick winery and made our way up to the top of their property, which is the highest point on the island. Once again the views were unbelievable. We then made our way back down to the walking trails that go all over the island and did a hike that took us along the southwest side of the island. The trails zig zagged from bush trails, onto farmers properties, and the along cliffs that put you right above the ocean. It was a beautiful hike. After catching the ferry back to Auckland, we loaded up our beauty of a car and headed north to the Paihia, and the Bay of Islands. Here we checked into the YHA hostel and called er a night,
