Stone settlement

Neolithic tomb

The first day we went to "The Burren" - an area south of Galway bay known for its barren landscape, profuse flowers, and many neolithic and later sites. Visited the Cliffs of Mohur - 200 meters high and quite dramatic - then to Kilfanora to look at some of the original Irish "High Crosses" dating from about 1000. Then a reconstructed stone fort from about 800 AD and a neolithic tomb entrance from 1000 BC. All of this was immediately after the flight - so by the arrival at the B&B (after stopping in a pub for some Guinness and directions) I had been up 32 hours. Then a pub dinner of fish and chips and some much needed sleep.
