We arrived safe and sound to Lima (Peru)around 7.30am this morning which is about 12.30 UK time. First flight from Heathrow was delayed a bit which made things a bit tight changing over in Madrid but all is well now. We also survived the crazy taxi ride from the airport to the hotel, he thought he was Michael Schumacher! We´re going to go out exploring this afternoon and will hopefully be able to update again later.
It´s 10.30pm now and we´ve just got back from meeting everyone else on the tour everyone seems lovely so far! A few people from the UK, quite a few from Sydney, a couple from Switzerland and a couple from Canada. Tour guide is Carlos. He bought us all a local drink called Pisco Sours, yummy! This afternoon before we met everyone we went on a guided city bus tour. We stopped and had a wander round with an English speaking guide and the highlight was seeing the Catacombs which is where everyone in the city of Lima used to be buried in sort of mass graves under the churches. In more recent times someone decided to count how many bodies were buried under this particular church and separated all the bones.
