Haiti again! travel blog

The packing process

In the days prior to departure many very generous people gave us supplies to take to the people of Haiti - drugs, school supplies, toys, soccer equipment, and much more. The organization "Gleaning for the world" gave us fifty "Wings" kits - washable feminine hygiene products - that will be very useful.

Kitty and I packed nine bags over the weekend and each weighs about 45 to 50 pounds. It was a challenge condensing all the vitamins into fewer containers to conserve space. My hands smelled like cherry for the rest of the day!

As we approach the departure date there is much back and forth about when and where to meet. Currently we're to be in Charlotte at 5:00 PM on Saturday the 4th to make sure all is ready for our 10:30 flight.

This is the biggest group that Starfish has taken - 16 people. It is making logistics a bit of an issue but it should all work out.
