Engagement honeymoon travel blog

Arrived in auckland yesterday morning! Was a busy day. Picked up our beauty of a car, similar to a Prius. We then made our way to our hostel, Bamber House, which was quite a laughable ride for Kara, but not for myself. The whole driving on the wrong side of the road wasn't as hard as I thought it would be, but the lever for the signal light is on the opposite side of the steering wheel. This turned out to be quite the issue for me as every time I wanted to signal to switch lanes I had the windshield wipers going at full blast. But after I got that figured out, all was good, other than our lack map. And after getting lost within half our of our trip (Kara's fault), we had to go buy a GPS. The Bamber House hostel was located about a 20 min walk from downtown Auckland, right at the base of Mount Eden. Quite a nice hostel, we had a private room with ensuite. Would highly recommend to anyone travelling! After getting our stuff dropped off at the hostel, we took the walk into downtown Auckland. Here we went down to the Wharf, and booked our ferry for the next day and wandered around the pier. We visited the sky tower right in the heart of the city. This was a cool building as it was 55 stories up to the top, where you could have full 360 degree views of the city from their viewing level. On our way back to the hostel, we stopped at Fuel Burger. Here I had my very first burger with an egg on it. It was unreal good! Quite the mixture of foods on it though, consisting of egg ,beet root, onion, burger, cheese, and pickle. After the burgers, we headed back to the hostel and lounged around there.

One last thing, they call coolers, "chilly bins" here. We got quite the kick out of this, especially when the man at the store couldn't figure out for the life of him what they were until we explained their function.
