Summer 2017: Yukon and Alaska travel blog
I've always wanted to visit more of northern Canada and to see Alaska, but we were inspired by an article in our local newspaper the Victoria Times Colonist to finally check these places off our bucket list. A reporter wrote about his flight over the Kluane Glacier Fields, the largest glacier fields in the world, south of the Arctic Circle. The photos he published were truly amazing.

When I learned more about the restoration of the White Pass & Yukon Railway that used to run from Whitehorse, Yukon to Skagway, Alaska I was even more determined to make a trip 'North to Alaska'. We decided to travel in June to take in the Summer Solstice, and to avoid the plague of blackflies that often make a northern visit a bit of a nightmare.
