Rosalie & Dave's Alaska Adventure 2006

Rosalie and Dave travel blog
To all our family and friends. We wanted to share our 4 month trip to Alaska and wish everyone could be with us as we travel. This web site is the next best thing to being there. Hope we don't bore you with our writings and photo's. Unlike most vacation trips that require a few days planning or even a couple weeks, a trip to Alaska from Florida is not that easy. It takes time to plan a trip that hopefully has no problems, surprises or interruptions.

It all started in the fall of 2004, after returning home from a trip to Glacier National Park, Montana. Dave decided the next time we leave should be the best trip of our lives. Well, having driven our motor home to most of the states, Canada and Nova Scotia, there were not many places left. First, prepare the motor home, a 36ft Holiday Rambler Vacationer, for a 18,000+ mile trip. New tires, full service and complete check over at Lazy Days in Tampa. Getting a clean bill of health from Lazy Days, its time to make some changes we often have wanted on our previous trips. New SAT dish (the old one seemed to become warped and was difficult to adjust) that locates by itself. Nice! A Smooth Talker for our cell phone. (Could increase range by up to 50 miles. I hope so.) Install a new breaking system for our tow vehicle. We should have had one before but it never seemed to be an issue. We will be towing Rosalie's Chevy Tracker. And change or repair a few other small items to the motor home.

Over the last couple months we have spent much time in the library and searching the internet trying to get an idea what to expect. Many times we would read other people's trips and adventures to Alaska, but we are still somewhat in the dark. Pre-ordered the Milepost 2006 travel guide that arrived in late March, 2006. Looks like it will be very helpful. Hope everyone enjoys our Alaska trip as much as we think we will. Will try to update our site on a regular basis. Our Cell phone number is 352-516-2538. Call us anytime you want. (Remember the time zones)
